Cable Satellite Internet Policy
The following policy has been developed to enforce the installation of cable or satellite dishes for the reception and television use by residents of this Authority. The Housing Authority of the City of Fort Payne does not wish to prohibit the use of cable or satellite dishes by residents but must establish certain guidelines for the installation of such devices for the protection of Housing Authority owned property and our compliance with FCC.
The following policy has been established by this Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority of the Fort Payne on the March 5, 2013. Said policy is created for all future and currently installed cable or satellite dishes.
- All existing satellite dishes must be in conformance in 3 months from the date that the policy was adopted.
- All requests to install a satellite dish or cable must be to the Central Office located at 203 13th Street NW, Fort Payne, Alabama. Said application will be prior to any installation.
- Said application will require the company, installer's name, address(es) and phone number(s). No installation will begin until written approval by the Executive Director is given. If installation is found without an approved application the tenant can be charged a fee of up to $300.00.
- Applications to install a new satellite dish or cable will not be granted to any tenant who is not current in the payment of rent.
- Housing Authority staff must accompany installer in order to approve location of dish, cable equipment and installation.
- All installation of such devices will be completed by an authorized service installer.
- All cable required for installation and operation will have to follow the existing cable route currently made available within the dwelling structure.
- NO additional holes or outlets will be allowed unless properly installed and approved by Housing Authority staff. Any additional cable/satellite outlet will be charged to the tenant and must be installed by the provider. No additional outlets shall be installed for internet service, a wireless router may be used. Additionally, any damage caused by the installation of an additional cable/satellite outlet will be at the expense of the tenant.
- Cable wires may not be run through the apartment to supply other rooms cable/satellite or internet. If the tenant chooses to have cable or satellite in additional rooms an additional outlet must be installed properly by the provider at the tenants' expense.
- Only one (1) satellite dish per apartment will be allowed.
- No satellite dishes over 39.37 inches (1 meter) in diameter will be allowed.
- No cable will be atop of ground, on roof tops, or on floors, through doors or windows. Additionally, no holes should be drilled soffit or fascia. Satellites must be attached to the building by the approved provider and may not be installed in the yard or attached to the roof of the building.
- The Housing Authority is not responsible for any damage to cable or satellite system due to utility services, Housing Authority maintenance or any other reason.
- Should the resident vacate, any cable installed within the building structure will become the property of the Housing Authority.
- Work must be performed during working hours of Fort Payne Housing Authority. No installations will be made on weekends or holidays. Permitted hours will be Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM and Fridays 7:30 AM to10:30 AM.
Applications for satellite dishes are made available at the Housing Authority's Central Office. Any questions regarding this policy or any part of the installation procedures should be directed to the Housing Authority. Any violation of this policy will be considered a violation of the residents lease and is subject to eviction or charges to the tenants account.
