Greetings from Fort Payne, AL, from the Valley to Lookout Mountain. Fort Payne, AL, the Sock Capital of the World, has rich history as Alabama's Mountain Town, the 1838 site of the Trail of Tears and the home of the Coal and Iron Company organized in 1888. I am Stacy Parris, the Executive Director of The City of Fort Payne Housing Authority. We have one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments across Fort Payne, Valley Head and Sylvania as well as offering the Housing Choice Voucher program to over 120 families throughout Dekalb County.
The City of Fort Payne Housing Authority was the 11th Authority developed in the State of Alabama. As the Executive Director, since 2023, I have been blessed with an active and progressive Board of Commissioners. The Administrative and Maintenance staff are second to none and all work hard to live out each word of our organization's mission statement. We all strive to "meet people where they are," daily. Currently, in addition to my duties at the FPHA, I serve on the AAHRA Training and Education Committee and Policy Task Force, the SERC-NAHRO Rental Assistance Committee as well as the Emerging Leaders Committee.
My personal vision for the Housing Authority is to provide an inclusive atmosphere both internally and externally. I am determined to be an advocate within community, to show compassion, build trust, and foster authentic relationships with those that are a part of the organization and community.
Stacy Parris, Executive Director
